hex-grid

hex-grid is a browser-based color and audio hex-grid scroller, using the HSL color space.

Interaction

Click and drag your mouse, or use a touchscreen, to drag around the various color axes.

To automate this movement, click the Start Cycling button in the lower-right.

There are also the following keyboard shortcuts:

• Hue
  • Increase: → or Numpad 6
  • Decrease: ← or Numpad 4
• Saturation
  • Increase: ↑ or Numpad 8
  • Decrease: ↓ or Numpad 2
• Lightness
  • Increase: + or Numpad +
  • Decrease: - or Numpad -

Sound

Click Show Audio and then Play to enable sound that evolves as the color changes.

You can use the sliders to further adjust the qualities of the sound, as well as toggle between steady tones or randomly-selected chord progressions.
